
Ace NGUYEN DUC SOAT
LIEUTENANT GENERAL, SU-27 PILOT – VIETNAM PEOPLE’S ARMED FORCES HERO
Lieutenant General and Hero of the People’s Armed Forces, Nguyen Duc Soat, was born in 1946 in Phu Xuyen, Ha Tay. He enlisted in the military on July 4, 1965, and shot down six American aircraft.
He graduated from the Krasnodar Air Force School in the Soviet Union (1965-1968), the I. Gagarin Air Force Academy (1977-1980), and the Voroshilov General Staff Academy of the Soviet Army (1982-1984). He earned a Doctorate in Military Science in 2002.
A fighter pilot of the MiG-21, Su-22, and Su-27, Nguyen Duc Soat held key positions, including Commander of the Air Defense-Air Force Service and Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army
